Report on BOYEF

by fiditi

THE BODE OLAJUMOKE YOUTH EMPOWERMENT FOUNDATION (BOYEF).

The Bode Olajumoke Youth Empowerment was conceived in February of 2018 at the Annual General Meeting of the Old Students of Fiditi Grammar School where Alhaji Engr Lateef Busari came up with the idea of immortalizing Senator Bode Olajumoke’s name for his selfless service and love for his alma mater.

Engr Busari on that day put down #100,000 as Seed for the Project.

A committee of five was set up and work started in earnest. A letter seeking for Approval for Trade Education and Building was written to the Honourable commissioner of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology on the 12th of January 2022. Approval to Construct a building for the teaching and learning of Trade Subjects was given to us on the 14th of February 2022.

The Ministry of Education Science and Technology enjoined us in the approval letter to take cognizance of the standard of work in order to ensure its durability and at the same time have value for the amount to be invested in the Project.

This made the committee to have further thoughts on BOYEF thus:

1, to set up a board of trustees.

2, to register the Foundation with CAC.

3, to open an account of three Signatories.

4, Have an approved Logo.

5, Approve the Organization Structure.

6, Get the Syllabus for each vocation approved by the state Ministry of Education.

7, Fundraising, donors should be able to pay directly into BOYEF account.

8, Certification of the Organization.

Registration of BOYEF with the Corporate Affairs Commission is ongoing. We already have all the necessary Curriculum that we need for the take-off of the Program from the State Technical School and the Federal.

It is also our plan to register with the Board of Technical and Vocational Education of Oyo State (BOTAVED).

Certificates will be awarded at the end of each Course which will span between the period of six months and a year depending on the vocation of choice. This period would guarantee mastery and understanding of trade of choice on the part of the trainee, which will enable them work on their own, and on our side, we would have achieved our desired results/ expectations.

This Project of ours needs money i.e for the building and purchase of Equipment. The association has therefore been saddled with the responsibility of contributing towards this Project, and gladly results are seen, but to the glory of God the building in question is almost completed and the money raised will be used for the Purchase of Equipment for the trades/ vocations.

We have done market survey on the price of different equipment for Fashion Design, Catering/Home management, Bricklaying, Carpentry and hair dressing, but prices would have changed by now with the economic situation of the country. Hence the Fundraising Committee members need to come up with modalities that will bring in money as soon as possible so that anytime picked for buying of the equipment and launching will be realistic since we have recovered from the Shocks and rigors of 2023 Election.

BOYEF, a none government organization is independent of Fiditi Grammar School and it will be duely registered with the CAC as a separate legal Entity. However our Service delivery will be of the highest quality which will bring about our desired result and satisfy the Ministry of Education Science and Technology.

Trainees slots Will be especially allocated to the students of Fiditi Grammar School and by extension to interested members of the community, with at least a secondary school leaving certificate.

The Program will be run autonomously of FGS between the hours of 8 a. m and 4 p. m. It will be supervised and coordinated by an employed program coordinator/ director.

Since the program is a stop gap for secondary school leavers before getting admission into tertiary institution, it is not therefore compulsory or mandatory for trainees to complete the duration of their training at a stretch once they gain admission to higher institution, they can complete their course during their holiday.

The Vocational Centre is supposed to be a self-sustaining centre, but this may not be for a while.

Considering those that will be employed and buying of materials from time to time for the use of the trainees, and to make BOYEF a worthwhile Foundation that will outlive this generation, funds to run the centre must be discussed extensively.

Suggested list of names of Trustees as part of the requirements for the CAC registration had been forwarded to the Platinum Anniversary Chairman.

On this note I thank you all for your rapt attention and I wish us all a fruitful deliberation.

Long live Fiditi Grammar School.

Long live Oyo State.

Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
