About Us

Our History

ABOUT six decades ago the sleeping, rustic and rural community of Fiditi put up a monumental design that transcended the human conception of a community that is Lessentially composed of an illiterate people called Fiditians. The Community reasoned aloud that the only solution to their children's failure to advance beyond primary School education is to found their own community Secondary School of te without even being certain of the wherewithal of the fund and supportive teaching They seized the bull by the horn and bolted into the challenge of the time abysmally with a little fund less than N5000.00.

A courageous and dynamic progressive people in their resolve consulted widely with their ris and kins all over the country and produced a Grammar School, the first of its kind in the environs. The Fiditi Grammar School later opened the neighbouring towns to a desire self-reliant and self-dependent educational structure. Awe community mimicked Fiditi, Tre followed them and Oyo established Oranyan Grammar School later in the sixties. Some other communities in the old Western Region then followed suit. Mildly, one can call it the PACE SETTER.

The founding of Fiditi Grammar School pre-dated Chief Awolowo progressive dynamism in education, if at 1953-1954 the Fiditi Grammar School had become a pan African Institution of learning one may conclude that there had been inhered in that Pristine Society amood for decolonisation of people of Africa and indeed Nigeria as the school later in life de from the far north of Nigeria, the Ibos, the Edos, the Ijaws, the Ekitis, Egbas, Ijebus, the coastal region of west Africa of Ghana, Sierra Leone in terms of students and staff such Koffie, Ferreira (038), Edokpayi, Udeozor, Agbagi, Lander Peregrine, Ugben polo, Puiller Ehogiator.

I had to a greater extent resolved and combated the surging unemployment of middle managers in education sector and provided research forum for some new breeds or graduates of our universities as the epoch of Ajayi and Okigbo had revealed. The academic seal for our budding future professors was being laid at the infantile stage of the school by the encouragement of teaching of Science and provision of a good laboratory by the pincer principals. In the Art subjects inquisitive and ebullient Chief Ajayi had brought leading and eminent literary scholars into the school to give the students lectures on classical literature, poem/ culture. At age 3, Fiditi Grammar school had been beaming academic purity of knowledge that would soon breed high class professionals.

The schools concept of education has thoroughly assimilated and imbibed in students, Chief Awolowo's philosophy of education of training of the minds, hand and heads purposely to make a man fearless, courageous, self-reliant, self-dependent, respectful and capable of creating a vibrant society free of ignorance and disease with a….strength capable of fighting deceptions and mere masquerading in governance and for freedom and emancipation of souls a balanced mind. The School inculcated discipline in its students and staff alike in such a way that the products of the school in all their future endeavours exhibited diligence, commitment, divine mind that shunned misuse of executive power, corruption and greed as many of the commission of inquiries in any manner whatsoever described have not nabbed the products of the school as such.

The school's role in developing and growing the NIGERIA NATION in terms of quantity and quality is very robust, identifiable and ascertainable. The products are distinguishably found in politics, medical and legal, military occupations, research, teaching, engineering finance and banking, divinity, public administration, industries and so on. They are geographically spread and eminent in Europe, America, Japan. Some of them are found in the space technology in U.S.A. Here in Nigeria the likes of Chief Bode Olajumoke, Presidential Aspirant and Senator is uniquely placed in our politics of reconciliation and nation building that healed the wounds in Akintola-Awolowo's family of hostile recrimination and Abiola's posthumous hostilities nationally. We cannot in a hum discountenance my friend, Dr. Yemi Tunde Oloko's renowned personality internationally in Veterinary Medicine, the likes of Professor Popoola in law education cannot just be forgotten in a hurry in his bent for prevalence of customary equities over rigour of Statutory and Case laws to ensure substantial justice as against abstract Austinian adherence to forms alone and in a way develop a Nigerian jurisprudence that recognizes our cultura challenges and LIMITATION in administration of Criminal justice and Civil laws particularly Marriages.

The Success story of the school in the last 60 years is owed to the selfless sacrifice of an array of dedicated and committed staff both academic and non-academic. The pioneering forbearance of the first principal of the school Chief A.O. Adeyi that shunned the attractions of urban towns and chose to live among his natives in a rural area where water was scarce and climate hot and the environs very uninviting. His love for the school even when in the comfort of government resounded in his seeking financial support of the government for bounteous grants in aid and quick recognition and approval of the school and staff recruitment.

The continuation of the good standard set by the Chief was strengthened by an array of equally able, talented, visionary heads and staffers in persons of Chief Alex Olu Ajayi Chief S.1. Ojelabi, S.O. Ogunjuyigbe, Okigbo, Pa Otubanjo, Mr Adeyemo, Chief Aja and in the recent past B. A. Lasebikan Omojowo, old students of the school, late JA Oguntokun, Ayo Afolabi all of the blessed memories. Chief & Mrs Abodunrin, Ms Ogbonnaya, Bokosa, Bode Kumapayi and a host of others. All these laid good foundations for the school in Arts Subjects, Science and Mathematics and gave the student body the 3MS of education in a very dynamic Colour that molded the students in general for greater heights and visionary leadership in the development and growth of the Nation.

A highly committed crop of selfless spirits was nurtured and grown the benefit and recognition of Fiditi as a town in the comity of nations world-wide. It is this body of responsible products that left the school at different times that still find themselves bounded by their previous love of the school that made them form the Fiditi Grammar School Old Student's Association that played significant role in the development he school particularly in the provision of a school library, bore-holes, renovation of the als Golden Jubilee gate, information technology system, and a lot of other beneficial.
