WELCOME TO THE WEBSITE OF FIDITI GRAMMAR SCHOOL, FIDITI, OLD STUDENTS ASSOCIATION (FIGSOSA)

I find most profound and palatable the task to welcome you to this website. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, past National Presidents, the National Executive Committee and indeed, all those who have had the privilege to pass through this unique secondary school, I sincerely welcome you to this site with the assurance that you shall find this visit interesting, exciting and most worthy of your precious time.

Founded precisely on Jan 19th 1954, Fiditi Grammar School, Fiditi, Oyo State, is that citadel of knowledge located in a rural town but has produced eminent Nigerians in all fields of human endeavor. While some of her products have completed their earthly sojourns, many are still making waves contributing their quota to the socio-economic-political development of Nigeria. Interestingly, the school has hundreds of its products making waves abroad.

For many of these wonderful products of our school, their success is interwoven with the history and development of the school and therefore they consider it a privilege to PAY BACK to the school they attended in their formative years. They have over the years come together under the aegis of Fiditi Grammar School OLD STUDENTS ASSOCIATION (FIGSOSA) to intervene in a consistent manner providing solutions to the multifarious challenges besieging the school (just like virtually all public schools in Nigeria). Such interventions include (but not limited to) rehabilitation of old structures, provision of teaching aids, payment of salaries of teachers recruited for some subjects, supply of computers, and books for the library as well as provision of a borehole and solar system for electricity generation. These interventions (many are still ongoing) were at colossal financial resources to the old students. But more still need to be done for our alma mater.

Hence the introduction of this website. Of course the need for this are legion amongst which are an attempt to add to the sources of accurate documentation of the history and development of the school, records of the intervention of the Old Students as well as to provide a rallying point for the mobilization of all and sundry including those in the diaspora (and some who are within reach but lukewarm in joining us in this self-appointed but worthy cause) for further development of this school.

Indeed, there were efforts in the past to have an active website for this association. Unfortunately these efforts were not successful. I want to assure you that this present site created on the eve of our Platinum Anniversary is here to stay. Arrangements have also been put in place for a regular update of the site with necessary uploads.

This is our site. It is your site.

Welcome.
